Nassau, Bahamas

The morning of day 3 we slept in a little. While we were out at sea it was beautiful, just a little over cast. Here is a great view of the top of the ship.

They always had lots of activities planned during the times we were on the ship. One day they had the "tough man" contest, another day was the "hot stuff" contest. Today they had an ice sculpture demonstration. It only took him about 6 minutes to finish it.

The finished product. An Angelfish

We got ported at Nassau Bahamas around 1pm. It was great getting the morning to hang out on the ship and lay out. The closer we got to the Bahamas the cloudier it got.
All of the ships at the port. Our parking place was in the open spot.

Nassau, Looks nice from the ship....

And so far still looks nice, right?

When we got off the ship, there are tons of locals standing there trying to get us to go here and there. We found a group that was getting a taxi over to Atlantis to walk around on their own (to do any kind of nice tour it was between 100 and 250 PER PERSON - uhhh... I don't think so!) It was like the taxi driver was herding sheep. If anyone else tried to talk to us to get us to go in their taxi she would make it known we were "hers"

When we first go to Atlantis (which is a huge hotel on Paradise Island - I think owned by Trump) we were so excited to see the sites. We soon realized that every where we tried to go we had security stopping us and that really the only place we were allowed to be with out being a guest there was the shops and aquarium.
The water in the picture below was where the people in the later videos and pictures were snorkeling.

Very cool hotel... if only we would have been able to go exploring!

Then we made our way down the the aquarium.

A snorkeler swimming right next to the stingray!

Hmm... does that look like storm clouds heading our direction?

Trying to find our way out - this was a cool glass fire ball thing in the casino

So, we found our way out and were making our way to the ferry so we could head back to the other island. The storm clouds were getting darker and darker. We were hoping we could make it, but NOT A CHANCE! We got about half way there and it started POURING! Not just a little rain, a DOWN POUR! So as we are running with our Royal Caribbean towels over us a taxi cab yelled to ask if we wanted a ride back to the ship. YES! We spent the next hour in that taxi cab with no air and rain pouring in through the windows that were a little cracked so we didn't suffocate! By the time we got over towards Nassau there was about 6 inches of rain flooding the roads. They must have awful drainage systems there as they are not used to getting this much rain at once!

Wet dogs in the taxi cab

After getting back to Nassau we did a little shopping up and down the streets...
So what did we think of Nassau, Bahamas? I know we didn't have the ideal weather while we were there, but I don't think we would have been too impressed anyway. We heard from lots of people that is is a ghetto, and we definitely agreed. The smell everywhere after the rain was awful, the people there didn't want us there and didn't want to help us - you'd think they would realize that tourism is what keeps the food on their table and figure out ways to keep people coming back! So, yeah... we'd never choose to go back. I have heard that there are cool spots on the island, such as Love Beach, but we obviously didn't hit those cool spots!

Our cabin

Getting ready to go into dinner. This was the middle of the ship where all the shops, pictures, ect.. were.

That night after our dinner our servers walked around and sang and danced for us.
Calin is the tall guy in the back.

When we got back to the room we had another towel creature. Nova was outside our cabin and told us to go get in the picture with it.

Then the craziest funnest activity we went to there. A game called "Quest" How it worked is each team had a number and they gave you a challenge such as bring up a picture of a dog (most teams brought up their cell phones, cameras, and one team had a lady with a picture of her dog on her shirt so they brought her up front), then the challenges got tougher.. 3 belts (and since we only had 2 guys on our team we had to ask someone else to help)

And as you can see, by the end of the game the men were dressed up as beauty pageant girls. I have a great picture of all of them, but since most of them weren't as "tasteful" as Randy's I didn't post it. :)

After the game was over - Randy's shirt wouldn't stay up! Check out the guy in the back in the yellow dress. Looks like he's even stuffed. haha

Our team got 2nd place! YAY! Randy worked hard for that metal!
