And we now know why - because the security guards won't let you!
lol Since we fly stand-by we always try to get to our destination early so we make sure we get there! We were scheduled to get in to
Las Vegas at midnight. I went back and forth on if we should get a hotel that first night and everyone I talked to said there would be
PLENTY to do all night long that we wouldn't need to sleep! So, we opted for that... the only thing we didn't take into consideration was the 3 hour time change! So, whereas it would have been morning at home already, it was still the middle of the night there! We hung close to our hotel the next day, the new Hilton, and one of the casinos close by had this big couch off the beaten path. So, we hung out there a while.... every time we even closed our eyes for a second the security guards were there waking us up! Then at about 6am Vegas time (9am our time) we went to the Hilton to see if we could "look around" we found a wonderful lounge with a comfy couch and a TV. We fell asleep for about an hour until once again, the security guards were there to wake us up. Luckily we were able to check into our room at about 7:30am and took a good nap! Starting a busy few days in Vegas like that was rough!
Here was the strip coming in on the plane. A little blurred, but looks kinda cool!

Our hotel was right on
Las Vegas Blvd.

Our beautiful pool from our room window.

New York New York How cool!

Trying to take our own picture
in front of the
Ballagio water show.

Across the street at the "
Eiffel tower" that is at the "Paris" hotel.

once again, the water show... so amazing! The videos are at the bottom since my computer is being stupid and won't let me move them today.
Inside the Ballagio in the gardens.

Tree with attitude

Inside the MGM they have a cool Lion exhibit! In a different area where the adult Lions are they had 2 little baby cubs playing. They were so cute!

The adult lions were sleeping the entire time we were there watching. Right next to them there were 2 men standing in there just talking. Crazy people!

On Monday night we met up with one of my friends from college, Angie. It was so great to see her again and catch up! She and her husband live there now - everyone who talks bad about
facebook - I would never have known she was there had it not been for
facebook!

This was inside the Grand Station Shoppes (I think) So cool.

Waiting for the volcano show to start at the Mirage. I think this is where mom and dad stayed years ago.

I think to get the whole effect we should have been better had we been on the other side of the street.

We were there this night also to watch the water show again.

There is lots of construction there right now! Many projects have been put on hold until the economy gets a little better, and others are just trucking right through despite that. This was the view out of the top of our hotel. You can see the Trump tower, and I think that's the Wynn and Encore in the back... I already forget and it hasn't been that long since we've been back!

The ______________ and the Stratosphere

As we were getting ready to take off this was the best picture we could get of the back of the strip. The big green one is the MGM
We had a fun time, but we almost felt like we needed a vacation afterwards! We were going the entire time and definitely got our exercise in walking!! The best thing we did was to get an all day pass on the monorail the little train that went all over the strip. I didn't take us long to realize we are not good gamblers! We are savers and to put a $20 in a slot machine was just ridiculous when we didn't get anything for it! Randy won a little money on blackjack, so in the end we probably only lost about $30. I would have rather gotten 3 shirts at Old Navy! There was so much to do there and even though we we were so ready to get home (we actually changed our flights to leave 8 hours early) it would have been nice to have a longer time there so we wouldn't have felt like we had to do so much in such a small amount of time! We didn't even get time to go to any of the shows there and we would have loved to take a day and go to the Grand Canyon. Oh well, maybe for another trip!
