Cloudy day #4

The morning started off looking BEAUTIFUL.  But not so much!  It was a chilly day and looked like it could rain at any minute, but didn't until evening.

This is Mount Wai'ale'ale is the rainiest spot on earth!  This mountain gets an average of 428 inches of rain per year!  Every time we would look in this direction it had a huge cloud over it!  I think our tour guide said it rains there 350 days a year!  Wow!

Since it wasn't going to be a good beach day we headed off to take a train ride.

It took us for a ride on a plantation that raised animals and lots of plants and food for the island.  The mountains that are in the background every where you look is just amazing.

We got out at one point to feed the wild pigs and goats.  They warned us not to hand feed the pigs - they will bite!

Kaid was a little timid going to feed them.

Crazy things!  They were wild about this food!  See the next post for a video!

Cool dudes.  Notice Kason's are upside down... yep, I think I put them on him.  Oops.

After nap time we went to the Coconut Marketplace.  Since we didn't go to a Luau (it would have been $250 for the 4 of us to go and we didn't figure Kason would sit through it anyway.  I was bummed!) we wanted to go watch the hula dancers that are there every Wednesday.  While we walked around before it started we found some cute hats for the kids.

Kason's had is just perfect for him.  Mimi calls him Dozer because he bulldozes his way through everything!  What a find!

They usually had the show on a stage in the middle of the marketplace, but since it was raining before it started they had to set up under a roof.  So we were all squished, but still got to enjoy the show!
The Kieki who dance there are from a local school.  It was so cute to watch the little ones dance.

Waiting for our pizza at the marketplace.  Kaid wearing the Lei Daddy bought for her.

1-2-3 jump!

drinking his beloved cup of milk!
